Food Rules by Michael Pollan Book Giveaway
CONTEST CLOSED.
Michael Pollan has been doing the lion’s share of work to wake sleepy Americans up and nudge them into understanding their relationship with food. If you haven’t watched or listened to Mr. Pollan speak, this little video makes a great introduction. I particularly enjoyed how he reminds us what a young science nutrition is, “sort of like where surgery was in 1690″ and he urges us to wait for the inventions that will make application of the science less barbaric (like anesthesia?)
Mr. Pollan has written many books. The Omnivore’s Dilemma was the long-awaited alarm bell. What is on your plate? And more importantly - where did it come from? Do we know? Mr. Pollan splains it all. In Pollan’s 2009 book Food Rules he gives us a simpler summation. He combines his own sage advice, with common sense from others to give us 64 rules. One of my favorites is rule #63 “Cook”. Which is pretty much the reason me and my gang have produced over 150 recipe videos. We are such fans of Mr. Pollan, we sometimes refer to Cookus Interruptus as “Michael Pollan meets Everybody Loves Raymond”.
